On a Mission to plant the first
Lutheran Church in Belize

Duane and Elizabeth Meissner will begin serving the Lord as career

very first Lutheran church in Belize.Reverend Meissner will also work to support LCMS human care and mercy
projects in the country. After accepting a call in May 2015 to be missionaries,
Rev. Meissner and his family were busy with pre-deployment fundraising,
training, and preparation.In December
2015, they got the official green light to start their journey to Belize. In mid-January, they headed to the Dominican
Republic for 4 months of Spanish training before they will move onto Belize to
start their church plant work.
Reverend Meissner was born and
raised in central Texas, attending church and school at Redeemer Lutheran
Church, Austin, and living on his parent’s small farm in Hutto. He received a
bachelor’s degree in church music from Concordia University Texas, Austin, and
his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Before accepting his
missionary call, Duane was blessed to serve as the senior pastor of Immanuel
Lutheran Church, Barnhart, MO.
Elizabeth was born and
initially raised in Oakmont, PA, but she moved with her family to San Antonio,
TX, when she was young. She attended Concordia University Texas, Austin, where
she met Duane, and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration
/management. Prior to becoming a missionary, Elizabeth worked in
transportation logistics for a company in St. Louis and volunteered at St.
Louis Crisis Nursery. Duane and Elizabeth have been married since 2004 and have
