The Wedding
Matt Hewlett
Spraypaint and acrylic on canvas
This piece began as a minimalist depiction of a wedding. With head tilted to the left, the viewer will see the groom's tuxedo with bowtie. With head tilted to the right, the viewer will see the bride's gown with veil. Then, a red stain was added, representing the damage done by sin to the relationship between man and woman, and between humans and God. Then, just as God worked restoration on his people through Jesus' saving work on the cross, this piece was brought to restoration. The red stain becomes the base for the bride's bouquet and the groom's boutonniere.
